Were you ever the last few to finish 1500m at school, in the snow, a few hours after [daughter of famous footballer] has already made her way home? Why on earth have I chosen to run 5000m for fun? I must be mad, join me...

I DID IT, WOOPEE!

37m 09s

I'm pleased for a first attempt, but I didn't completely die at the end so I'm sure I could do even better, at a later date mind, couldn't do another one just yet. After all that worrying that I'd take 90mins was all the fault of that bloody treadmill.

Thanks to my bro for taking me there (and pretending to be my trainer, Mickey Goldmill stylee) and Ada, Mike & Chris for coming along to psyche me up. It was really busy, about 5000 participants and loads of spectators. Reeeeally sunny. Didn't think of that, forgot sunscreen and shades so I caught the sun across my face. I now look like a permanently embarrassed manga character.

The race
First k, just easy but still going along with the flow of the people, went quickly. 6mins in
2nd k, started to feel the burn, decided to take it easy to avoid burnout. 15mins in
3rd k, was mostly on grass so it was quite hard going, also I missed the sign so it seemed like the longest kilometre in the whole race.
4th k was non existent, it was part of the 3rd. 31mins in
Last k, everyone around me started to discard their water bottles and picking up the pace. I kept my water but sped up too and the course became higgledy piggledy, didn't know how far til the end. And then there was the big inflated finish post before I realised, I was done.

I had an mp3 playlist ready for my run around, I was almost dancing along to Queen "Don't stop me now" and sprinted to the end with Junior Senior telling me not to stop moving my feet.

Will post some photos later and email everyone who sponsored me a big thankyou. Also update you on the total sponsorship raised.

In all, a good day for charity.

TODAY! AAAAAARRRRRHHHH!

After all this, it's in a couple of hours time.

Got up a bit early for a bit of brekkie & stretching. I'm gutted I forgot to get those glucose sweets, they're tasty and this was perfect excuse to get some. Sainsbury's don't open til 10.

The penultimate question is, do I feel ready? The ultimate question is are you gonna be sick?

It's like before an exam, I'm as ready as I can be given the lack of preparation so just sock it to them, it'll turn out ok...I hope. So wish me luck, and good luck to anyone else taking part.

And no, no nausea just yet.

This Sunday!

Final Week

I've had a few sessions in past week. Been hard to fit them in between lobsters, which I couldn't refuse, because that'd be rude and my family would be insulted and secondly, do you really think I could refuse food? haha!

My sessions have been roughly analogous to walking uphill pushing a shopping trolley in a sauna whilst doing karaoke. I managed to keep it up for 80mins on Friday, but the fuse in the fan has blown (could smell it). Couldn't hack the heat today and was only up there for 40mins.

Right now, I'm feeling the dip in the morale just before the finale, when everything looks a bit grim and pessimistic. I'll finish within previous target of 90mins but by how far, it's hard to say. I'd put my money on 40+ mins. Setting myself a realistic goal, I reckon 50mins. I might be young (ish) but I aint that fit. I bet I'll be watching grannies over take me, laughing at me huffing and panting.

No badmo tmr either :( that'll be 4 weeks out of action for me now.

On a good note, sponsorship has topped £100 today and well on the way to busting the target of £150. Afterall, this is what it's all about.

Last Fortnight

I've no idea what week or what day this training plan is on now. I DO know I've only got 2 weeks left & with portfolio/birthdays/course interview/holiday to Cyprus, it's been a month I've not updated my blog or maintained a regular training regime.

So this last fortnight, I'll see what I can salvage of what fitness I had achieved before this big gaping gap.

Walked on treadmill to Live8 (being stuffed down our throats on EVERY radio station!) for good part of an hour. Just sooo boring though. Really need to find somewhere I can run safely.

Sponsorship is going well, thank you :)

Maybe next time, I'll do a sponsored laundry round instead.
